OTTOMURA is a young photography collective founded in 2010 by three upcoming photographers: Bence Bakker, Max Pinckers and Jeroen Lambertyn. All in the same class at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, we have worked together on various personal projects and are now all starting our master year in photography. OTTOMURA is primarily a commercial project.

Finding true teamwork partners is rare. We realized that there was something there that doesn't come along very often. Three individual photographers, with a wide variety of personal work, who understand each other well enough to work as one dynamic unit.

We are not only technically innovative together, but conceptually on the same page. This powerful combination of artistic vision and technical understanding creates a unique style and motivational drive representative of OTTOMURA.

Multiple photographers working together in a team is a new concept to most people. With only one camera, it may seem confusing, but lets not forget that lighting has about as much impact as framing or timing. Who pushes the button is not important anymore, it's the photograph that matters.

By working in a team of three or more photographers around one particular subject, we create a distinct style that is impossible to achieve without this collaboration. The technicality of our work method is an important note concerning the motivation of OTTOMURA. We use one camera and multiple mobile hand-flashes to give every situation a surreal studio appearance. It's all about the lighting. This is the main aspect in which we differ from the conventional solo photographer. Consider us a mobile studio that lights mundane situations into epic tableaus.
